DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY (X-RAY)

Our on-site, modern x-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. X-rays help our veterinarians evaluate muscular, skeletal, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, dental, reproductive and urinary systems. We are also able to diagnose foreign bodies that would not be visible on film x-ray.

X-rays can be be used alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic tools to provide a list of possible causes for your pet’s condition or to rule out disease. Images created in a digital format are quick, accurate, and able to share for referral or travel.

ULTRASOUND

Diagnostic ultrasound is a great tool in veterinary medicine. This state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves rather than radiation (as used in x-rays) to thoroughly examine specific internal organs. It is a pain-free, non-invasive way for veterinarians to diagnose many problems with your beloved pet.

Through ultrasound, our doctors can get a thorough view of your pet’s internal organs. It allows doctors to visually assess the function of the heart, tumors, liver disease, kidney disease, bladder stones, pregnancy, and much more without invasive surgery.

OFA X-rays

OFA X-rays are used to help determine canine hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia usually develops because of an abnormally developed hip joint. Cartilage damage from a traumatic fracture can also be a cause. Over time, this can result in pain and lameness. These x-rays can help determine a the grade of your pet's dysplasia, as well as be used to certify that a dog is in good condition for breeding.

PENN-HIP EVALUATIONS

PennHIP (University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program) evaluates the quality of your dog's hips to reduce the prevalence of hip dysplasia in dogs when breeding. Three x-rays are taken from different angles while the dog is under general anesthesia and submitted to the PennHIP for assessment. Our veterinarians are trained members of the PennHIP Network and are qualified to submit your pet's radiographs for their score.
